Restaurant Review: Bosscat Kitchen & Libations

Bosscat’s 12-Hour Beef Short Rib

LA NOURRITURE: OC Burger Week was a perfect opportunity for a friend and I to try out the many #goodeats at Bosscat Kitchen & Libations in Newport Beach, CA. Conveniently located near John Wayne Airport, Bosscat is the perfect location to eat and sip before or after a flight or even after work. Known for their whiskey concoctions [they even have a whiskey room] and their “whiskey of the month,” Bosscat is more than just another eatery hugging one of Orange County’s many prominent busy business plazas.

For OC Burger Week (July 14-20, 2019) a friend and I try out Bosscat after work and sit on their covered patio.

Atmosphere: The after-work vibe is somewhat noisy with groups gathered for parties, gatherings and such. The noise wasn’t a nuisance, though. The layout is casual, easy-to-get seated, and the interior is dimly lit with amber lights galore… perfect for whiskeys, burgers and chatter.

Food: We tried a variety of items which included Pulled Pork Hushpuppies, the Bosscat Burger and the Bosscat Fries. Each dish had it’s own flair, although we weren’t a fan of the hushpuppies. The server graciously removed it from our bill and offered an alternative: the Banana Cream Pudding. It was a hit and its’s creamy, yet not-to-strong banana flavor was way to recover from the appetizer.

Price: Averaging between $7 to $30, Bosscat has a variety of dishes which suits most budgets. Premium items on the menu like Sugar Barrel Steak and the 12-Hour Short Rib are expected to be more pricey than their $14 burgers.

Final Verdict: Go! It’s a great experience and the variety of whiskeys make Happy Hour a fun adventure!
